Connecticut Child Custody Laws
Connecticut child custody is based upon the best interests of the child standard. In assessing "best interests" the Court will consider the following:
-
the causes for the dissolution of marriage if such causes are relevant to the best interests of the child;
-
the wishes of the child if the child is of sufficient age and is capable of forming an intelligent choice; and
-
whether the party satisfactorily completed participation in a parenting education program.
If both parties agree to share joint custody, the Court will presume that this child custody arrangement will be in the best interests of the child.
